GuernseyTingle spearheaded the stylized surroundings of this record-setting coaster that delivers aquatic-themed thrills directly along the park's central water feature. The ride begins beneath a school of shimmering metallic fish, suspended below an open-air station that evokes a weathered fishing pier. (Keep an eye out for the ride’s namesake predator lurking nearby!)

Riders dart through a jumbled monumental metal reef as prey fish streak past them, arriving back on dry land by swooping in over a dilapidated boardwalk, a creative solution to satisfy safety constraints for this ride’s unique layout. In addition to the theming elements, our team contributed to the redesigned photo building, landscape visualization, and even the logo design.

Verbolten: Forbidden Turn at Busch Gardens Williamsburg

The layout inspired the new design from the start, particularly the classic scream-inducing drop- which occurs right before the coaster takes riders back outside into the light after disappearing into the darkness of the Black forest, which is largely set inside a multistory building. “I wanted to make the story centered around that.” -Richard Smith, Creative Director.
